Typical products from the Arzino Valley

Stop and enjoy a break to taste some of the typical products of the Arzino Valley while riding or walking along the paths that the Monte Prat plateau and its surroundings have to offer.

Forgaria's typical dish is called "scluf", a roll prepared with gnocchi and filled with either meat or vegetables.

There are many manufacturers in the area with a variety of products to offer.

For gourmands, we suggest you taste "Colaz" (available at the Bratti Bakery), typical local biscuits. Why not try them with honey (Azzaro Beekeeping) or local preserves (Fabrici) made from strawberries, plums, woodland fruits and quinces gathered in our territory.

Interesting information:
Sponsors used to give Colaz as presents during Confirmation. These biscuits were tied together to make a necklace, the symbol of Confirmation. This gift was very important to the children since these biscuits were made with soft wheat flour (not the hard wheat flour that was usually used) that arrived from the southern part of the Friuli region.

Of course, there is no lack of cheese manufacturers (Pradis Dairy). One of the outstanding specialties is the "formadi dal cit". After special processing, the cheese is placed in stone vases (cit). There are also typical meats and cold cuts (Salumificion Coletti, mushrooms (Agrifungo Leon), lavender (Mevania) - which was even used to make pasta – and wines such as Forgjarin, Scjaglin and Picolit neri (Marescutti), all of which come from local vineyards.

It's possible to taste the products from the shop Promoval in Via Roma 4 / a, loc. Anduins-Vito d'Asio, Wednesday from 17 to 20, Saturday from 11 to 13 and from 17 to 20 and Sunday from 10.30 to 13.

With such a variety of products at their disposal, a group of manufacturers at the end of 2008 decided to put a portion of their products in a basket and offer them on a local level. It was such a success that manufacturers decided to found PROMOVAL (the association that promotes products from the Arzino Valley). All those working in the sector of typical products (or those that were created and packaged by local companies) are invited to take part. The purpose of this association is to promote tourism and social initiatives in the municipalities of Pinzano al Tagliamento, Forgaria nel Friuli, Vito d'Asio and Clauzetto.
